New York and New Beginnings

New Beginnings...

It’s here! My first ever blog post. I have decided that this whole blogging thing is one of the more terrifying parts of opening a business. I could have chosen not to do it… you are correct. However, how else are my clients and followers supposed to feel known if I don’t first let them know me? So… instead of being terrified, I’m choosing to dance it out. Here’s a clip of just how great my dance moves are…

My hope is that this blog, and this brand, will reach others; I hope it will be encouraging, celebratory, and of course a bit silly. My prayer is that it will be filled with stories and pictures of moments big and small, and that it will highlight different artists who are using their unique gifts to bring these moments to life. I hope it inspires laughter, boldness, and grace and that it challenges you to be you, and to be you bravely!

New York

I am so excited to finally share this New York styled shoot with you! Over the last few months, I was lucky enough to work with photographer Tara Bielecki. Tara is a Colorado based photographer with an INSANE amount of talent. She reached out to me wanting some help with her dream of doing an old world (think Jane Austen) styled shoot. After months of planning and coordinating, this idea was brought to life! Shot in a remote park in New York, this shoot could not have turned out more beautifully!

Side Note: The gown featured in this shoot is from Saint Isabel's new 2017 collection that was just released! Go check it out!

For this shoot, I sourced a vintage box and wrote love letters on handmade 100% recycled cotton paper. This complimented the "old world romance" feeling that the shoot was hoping to accomplish. Using walnut ink, silk ribbon, and  romantic words derived from Jane Austen's "Persuasion" these love letters fit right in!

My favorite part of this process (aside from getting to hang out with Tara of course) was getting to create this silk banner. When we first started talking calligraphed fabric, Tara and I decided that we wanted a very soft and romantic fabric that would have a lot of movement when photographed. We went to the CUTEST little fabric store in Denver, Colorado and found this amazing silk chiffon.

This runner is both the greatest and most challenging project I've done thus far! It took countless hours of trial and error, and many late night coffee breaks,  but I would do it a million times over for photos like these! *Note to self: Give yourself plenty of time when working with anything see-through! *

Needless to say, I have now fallen in love with Styled Shoots. I love the opportunities that a styled shoot brings: meeting other artists, dreaming up something truly unique, and the opportunity to push the boundaries of imagination. I'm thankful for the friendships being built, and the stories being told!

If you made it to the end of this blog post, YOU WIN!  Thanks for coming along on this new adventure with me and for tolerating the steep learning curves that are sure to come right along with it!

XOXO Katie
